Dear Pastor: It is my honor and privilege to write this letter of recommendation on behalf of Chad and Linda Phillips, missionaries to Cambodia. As their sending church, a portion of my personal ministry has come to fruition, and it is rewarding to say the least. Chad and his family have been faithful members in our church for many years and involved in many aspects of the ministry. Chad was an active part of our youth ministry when I was the Youth Pastor, and now as he has surrendered his life to the mission of spreading the Gospel to the world, he is the first missionary to be sent out of Victory Baptist Church since I have been the senior pastor. What more could a pastor ask for than to see young people trained and sent to do what they've been called to do! I've seen Chad grow from a young teen trying to find meaning in life to a young man taking that meaning to a lost world. Along the way, God divinely brought a helpmate to Chad and completed the team He wants to use to reach Cambodia. Mrs. Linda has also answered the call to return to the country from which her parents escaped some thirty years ago. It is truly a remarkable story that you definitely want to hear, given they have an opportunity to present their burden to you and the church. God has blessed Chad with the ability to very quickly learn the Khmer language; and after graduating from West Coast Baptist College under the leadership of Pastor Paul Chappell, Chad served two years in the Cambodian ministry of First Baptist of Long Beach, California, under the leadership of Pastor John Wilkerson. He has also lived and worked in Cambodia for two months with veteran missionary Stephen Benefield, with whom he will be training with upon his immediate arrival there. I hope and pray that you will prayerfully consider partnering with this family as they endeavor to reach Cambodia for Christ. If I may be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at 770.466.4040 or by email at pastor@victorybc.org -Derik Lawrence, pastor of Victory Baptist Church, sending church |

As we evaluate our stewardship of getting the world the gospel of Christ, it is vital that we invest in quality servants of God. Chad and Linda Phillips are such servants. As they have served their years of internship with the FBC family, the Lord has greatly used them in the Cambodian ministry and in our church family at large. God has used them to win souls, disciple converts, teach, build a Sunday school class, lead choirs, and minister to others with a spirit of unparalleled grace. Their love for Christ and for people is very obvious. They both already speak the Khmer language and have spent substantial time in Cambodia. As they contact you for a possible meeting with your church family, please consider the opportunity to accomodate their visit and invest in their vision. I have great confidence that their ministry will be eternally significant. -John Wilkerson, pastor of First Baptist Church of Long Beach, CA |

Cambodia needs more missionaries, and after 8+ years of serving here, I believe that Bro. Phillips is exactly the kind of man for the job. There are several qualities which he possesses that I think make him worthy of your consideration. First of all, he has a very humble and teachable spirit. Both times he has been in Cambodia, he has asked questions constantly, not just from me, but from any missionary who would give him a moment.
Second, he has a passion for the ministry in general and Cambodia in particular. He has spent a total of 2 months working with me here in Cambodia, and I believe that his heartbeat is serving God and winning Cambodians for Christ.
Third, Bro. Phillips has had some opportunities which have prepared him in a unique way for the ministry here. During the two trips that he has made here, he has gotten a huge head start on the language. Being married to Linda has increased his opportunity to learn the language, and I believe he will be close to being ready to preach in Khmer before he ever arrives on the field.
Additionally, during his two trips to Cambodia, he made many good contacts and friendships among the Cambodian people, particularly the folks here in our ministry. I have seen how they react to various people who come through, and they see something very special in Chad and Linda. Many of our folks are very excited about their return to Cambodia to help reach this country for Christ. Humble and teachable…a passion for the ministry…prior experience with the language and culture…I wish we could clone about 100 more missionaries like Chad Phillips. Please prayerfully consider getting behind this young couple, for the sake of the lost in Cambodia. -Stephen Benefield, veteran missionary in Cambodia for over eight years |
